Over two consecutive three-month windows, this Houston site’s search impressions grew faster than its clicks — the normal signature of rankings improving before traffic catches up. Almost all clicks came from mobile, a couple of brand-new pages produced an outsized share of the gains, and pages that schema made eligible for rich results pulled tens of thousands of impressions.
None of that required paid ads. It came from publishing the right pages, being fast and usable on a phone, and earning positions that sit just outside the range where people actually click. The sections below label every number as either verified from the export or a Rank Forge interpretation, and each finding ends with a specific action.
How this benchmark was built
A direct Google Search Console performance export (Search type: Web) for a single Houston-area ecommerce business, shared with permission and anonymized.
GSC’s “Last 3 months” window compared against the previous 3 months, both ending on the export date of July 11, 2026.
Impressions, clicks, CTR, and average position — broken out by page, query, device, country, and search appearance. Totals are summed across devices.
One site, one regulated vertical — not a market-wide study. Average position is a volatile GSC metric, and the export contains no revenue, conversion, Maps, or reviews data. Treat it as a directional reference, not a guarantee.
Six things the data shows
Impressions grew faster than clicks
Mobile is almost the entire audience
New pages did the heavy lifting
Branded searches convert far harder than discovery
Most impressions never reach click range
Structured data earned rich results
What this dataset does not measure
A Search Console export only sees organic Google Search. The factors below matter enormously for local visibility but are not in this data, so we give guidance instead of inventing numbers.
Completeness and category accuracy drive Maps ranking but sit outside GSC. Fill every field and keep it current — see GBP optimization.
Volume, rating, and recency influence conversions and local trust, and none of it appears here. Build a steady review process.
The local 3-pack is ranked separately from organic results. Track it with a local grid tool alongside your local SEO.
Core Web Vitals and load speed shape rankings and conversions but need their own tools (PageSpeed Insights, CrUX), not GSC search stats.
Whether AI Overviews or assistants cite you is not in this export — an emerging area we track through answer engine optimization.
GSC reports search behavior, not sales. Tie clicks to outcomes in GA4 or your store before claiming a revenue impact.
What this means for your Houston business
Four moves account for nearly all of the gain in this dataset: publish the pages your customers actually search for, make the site fast and effortless on a phone, push the rankings you already have from page two onto page one, and give search engines clean structured data to work with. None is a secret, but few local competitors do all four consistently — and that gap is the opening.
If you want the organic side handled end to end, that is our Houston SEO and local SEO work. The map and profile side runs through Google Business Profile optimization and review management, and the pages that did the heavy lifting here are built the way we build local landing pages.
